Be Ye Reconciled to God!
God declares you are wicked and sinful in His perfect eyes. If you do not believe Him, think about this: sometimes you have known to do right and you chose against it. That is evil. God calls that sin. (James 4. 17) God also tells you that He knows you have wanted to do right but have done wrong instead. (Rom. 7) Face it, all of us have a disposition toward evil within us. God calls it sin.
Because of our sins, we are at odds with God. Our sinfulness is offensive to God and moves Him to angry judgment against us. You must be reconciled to God!
Here are some ways it cannot happen:
You cannot do good deeds to please God, because God has already proven you guilty for sinning. He says, by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified [declared guiltless] in his sight: for by the law [is] the knowledge of sin. (Rom. 3. 20)
You cannot assume God will forgive you in the end, because God does not “cut favors” to anyone. It is written, But he that doeth wrong shall receive [judgment] for the wrong which he hath done: and there is no respect of persons. (Col. 3. 25)
God’s Way – Be Reconciled to God through Jesus!
Jesus Christ died on the Cross for our sins and then rose again. He alone has the power to pardon sins, since only He paid for them with His own blood. God, the Father, has seen the travail of his soul, [and] shall be satisfied only with it. (Is. 53. 11)
God’s Plan is that you change your mind about yourself. Agree with Him that you are a Hell deserving sinner, take God’s side against yourself, and then depend once and for all on Jesus to make you perfect in God’s eyes. Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world. (John 1. 29)
Call out to Jesus in prayer. The prayer will not save you, but He will. For whoseover shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. (Rom. 10. 13)
